Amy McHugh appointed as Curator of Modern Glass

After a national search led by Senior Search Consultant Dan Yaeger, Amy McHugh assumed her role at the Corning Museum in September. She has held curatorial positions at the Museum of American Arts and Crafts Movement in St. Petersburg, FL and the Tiffany & Co. Archives in Parsippany, NJ. Her work has centered on objects created by American Arts and Craft practitioners utilizing glass, as well as Tiffany history, including the designing, importing, and retailing of glass and silver-mounted glass. She received her MA in History of Decorative Arts and Design from Parsons The New School and is a member of numerous professional glass organizations including the ICOM International Committee for Museums and Collections of Glass (board member), Art Glass Forum New York, and the National American Glass Club (membership chair).

Jill D’Alessandro appointed Director and Curator, Avenir Institute of Textile Art and Fashion

The Denver Art Museum (DAM) has appointed Jill D’Alessandro as Director and Curator of the Avenir Institute of Textile Art and Fashion. She officially joins the museum staff in January 2023. MS&R Senior Search Consultant Connie Rosemont led the national search.

Brian Statz appointed President and CEO

Minnetrista Museum & Gardens in Muncie, Indiana has appointed Brian Statz as their new President & CEO after a national search led by Connie Rosemont, Senior Search Consultant with Museum Search & Reference. Statz assumed his new role in early January 2023. Statz served as Vice President of Operations at The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis for more than a decade,  a position he took after four years as the museum’s General Counsel.  At The Children’s Museum, Statz oversaw approximately 100 staff and was in charge of visitor relations, facilities, construction projects and security. He played a key role in the development of the high-profile Riley Children’s Health Sports Legends Experience, a $38.5M project which opened in 2018.

Vicki Sung-Yeon appointed Curator of Korean Art and Culture

The Royal Ontario Museum appointed Dr. Vicki Sung-yeon Kwon in November 2022 as the inaugural Curator of Korean Art & Culture after an international search led by MS&R Senior Search Consultant Connie Rosemont. This appointment – the first of its kind at a Canadian museum – was made possible with the support of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of the Republic of Korea (MCST). Kwon will oversee ROM’s world-class collection housed in the only museum gallery in Canada dedicated to Korea’s cultural heritage. She will contribute to ROM’s leadership position as an important centre for Korean art and culture through her work on exhibitions, research, acquisitions, public programming, and learning initiatives.

Dr. Jeffrey Richmond-Moll appointed George Putnam Curator of American Art

Dr. Jeffrey Richmond-Moll has joined PEM as its George Putnam Curator of American Art, where he will oversee an expansive collection that encompasses over four centuries of American art, culture, and creative expression. MS&R Senior Search Consultant Lora Urbanelli led this nationwide search.

Thomas Sullivan appointed Executive Director

The Westchester Children’s Museum Board of Trustees has voted unanimously to appoint Thomas Sullivan as its new Executive Director. The appointment follows an extensive national search conducted by MS&R Senior Search Consultant Ida Tomlin. Sullivan assumed his new position on October 11, 2022.
