Carol Ann Fabian appointed Director of Collections

We are pleased to announce that Carole Ann Fabian has been appointed Director of Collections for the Corning Museum of Glass, Corning, NY. 

Fabian comes to this position after more than 9 years at Columbia University in New York City, where she served as the Director for the Avery Architectural & Fine Arts Library. At the Avery Library, she oversaw acquisitions, grants and advancement initiatives for both operations and endowments, renovated the Library's 1974 addition, and initiated the Digital Avery program. Prior to that she worked at ARTstor Digital Library as a Planning, Outreach and Communications Officer, and before that as Associate Librarian at the University of Buffalo, SUNY. Early in her career she was an intern at the Albright-Knox Art Gallery and an Associate Provenance Archivist and Curatorial Assistant in Paintings at the Getty Museum.

At the Avery Library, Fabian oversaw three curatorial divisions: Art Properties (12,000 works of art in all media, outdoor sculpture, and the Sackler Collection of over 2,000 Asian artworks), Drawings and Archives (2.5 million documents, including the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation Archive of nearly a million documents), and Avery Classics (40,000 rare books). During her years at the Avery Library, Fabian served terms in a variety of library, special collections, and museum roles, filling in as Acting Curator of Avery Drawings & Archives (2017-2018), as Special Assistant to the University Librarian for Strategic Directions (2015-2017), Interim Associate University Librarian for Distinctive Collections (2015), Acting Curator of Art Properties (2011-2013), Acting Director of the Wallach Art Gallery (2011-2012), and Acting Curator of Avery Classics (2009-2011, 2014). 

Fabian holds an MLS degree from the School of Information and Library Studies at University at Buffalo, SUNY, 1997; and a dual B.A. degree in Fine Art & Art History from SUNY at Oswego in 1974.

The national search was led by Museum Search & Reference. Senior Consultant Dan Keegan of Albany, NY partnered with Principal Marilyn Hoffman to lead the consultancy.
