Carole Ann Fabian appointed Director of Collections

We are pleased to announce that Carole Ann Fabian has been appointed Director of Collections for the Corning Museum of Glass, Corning, NY. 

Fabian comes to this position after more than 9 years at Columbia University in New York City, where she served as the Director for the Avery Architectural & Fine Arts Library. At the Avery Library, she oversaw acquisitions, grants and advancement initiatives for both operations and endowments, renovated the Library's 1974 addition, and initiated the Digital Avery program. Prior to that she worked at ARTstor Digital Library as a Planning, Outreach and Communications Officer, and before that as Associate Librarian at the University of Buffalo, SUNY. Early in her career she was an intern at the Albright-Knox Art Gallery and an Associate Provenance Archivist and Curatorial Assistant in Paintings at the Getty Museum.

Julia Courtney appointed Collections Curator

Julia Courtney is the new Collections Curator at the Art Complex Museum (ACM) in Duxbury, MA. 

Director Charles Weyerhaeuser announced the appointment of Julia Courtney as its new Collections Curator, effective August 16, 2018. She will oversee the 8,000-piece permanent collection of the ACM, built by museum founders Carl and Edith Weyerhaeuser. "After a national search, we are delighted to have found Julia, who brings several decades of experience working with permanent collections and producing publications," said Search Committee chair Andy Bentinck-Smith.

Joseph Antenucci Becherer, Ph.D. appointed Director

Joseph Antenucci Becherer will be the new Director of the Snite Museum of Art at the University of Notre Dame in Indiana.

Becherer, the founding director and curator of the sculpture program at Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park in Grand Rapids, Michigan joined Meijer Gardens in 1999, and became its chief curator and vice president of sculpture and horticulture, collections and exhibitions in 2009. He also is the Lena Meijer Professor in the History of Art at Aquinas College, where he teaches courses in Renaissance, Baroque and Contemporary art.

Dr. Fahmida Suleman appointed Curator of Islamic Art & Culture

We are pleased to announce that Dr. Fahmida Suleman will be the new Curator of Islamic Art & Culture at the Royal Ontario Museum (ROM) in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Dr. Suleman will begin her new position in January 2019. Fahmida joins the ROM from the British Museum where she is the Phyllis Bishop Curator for the Modern Middle East. In that position, Fahmida is responsible for the Museum's collection of ethnographic objects and textiles from the Middle East and Central Asia. Previously, Fahmida was also a consultant with the Aga Khan Trust for Culture during the development phase of the Aga Khan Museum in Toronto. Marilyn Hoffman and Connie Rosemont of Museum Search & Reference ran the international search for this position at the ROM.

Siddhartha V. Shah appointed Curator of Indian and South Asian Art

We are delighted to announce that Siddhartha V. Shah is the new Curator of Indian and South Asian Art at the Peabody Essex Museum in Salem, MA. Shah will begin his new position in June 2018. He comes to PEM from Columbia University, New York with academic interests that include the aesthetics of imperial rule in British India, Tantric cults of the Divine Feminine and late 19th century British and French painting. Marilyn Hoffman and Connie Rosemont of Museum Search and Reference ran the international search for this position at PEM.

Petra Slinkard appointed Curator of Fashion & Textiles

We are delighted to announce that Petra Slinkard is the new Curator of Fashion & Textiles at the Peabody Essex Museum in Salem, MA. Slinkard began in her new position on February 1, 2018. She comes to PEM from the Chicago History Museum, where she was Curator of Costume since 2013.  Connie Rosemont of Museum Search and Reference and Marilyn Hoffman ran the international search for this new position at PEM.

We are pleased to announce that the Amon Carter Museum of American Art, Fort Worth, TX has appointed as its new Director of Education and Library Services Amanda Blake. Blake is currently Interim Director of Education and Head of Family, Access and School Experiences of the Dallas Museum of Art (DMA), TX.
